I was born in Ohio where my family lived until I was 10 years old. I have an identical twin brother that people often mistake for me. My father changed jobs when I was 10 moving my family to Wisconsin. I am a very hands on “do it yourself” type of a person. I was in the construction trade and at 22 built my own home from the ground up. I married my wife, Nicole Cola, on October 15, 2012.

Whether it was in sports or martial arts I have always been a very active person. I was involved in martial arts from 6 years old until high school. I joined the track team in high school and discovered my skill of running. As much as I loved to run it just was not enough for me. I eventually began weight lifting outside of cross country and track. In 2004 I started USA Powerlifting, which I competed in for roughly three years achieving my goal of setting the Wisconsin state bench press record. I also qualified for Junior Nationals twice. Unfortunately the first year I broke my hand a month before the competition and was unable compete. I qualified again the second year, but missed making weight by .3 pounds.

I am currently a Design and Manufacturing Engineer at Janesville Tool and Manufacturing. I first started Crossfit in 2012. Most people do not know this about me, but I was only able to finish half of my first workout. It was 10 rounds of 11 pull ups and 22 front squats at 45 pounds. Even though I was unable to finish the workout I enjoyed every minute of it, and have been hooked ever since. I became a Level 1 certified trainer in April 2013. The decision to try Crossfit has been life changing for me. It is not just a workout, it is a lifestyle!

Please visit the “About the Owners” page to see why Nicole and I decided to open Crossfit Rendered.

I have been active in sports all of my life. I started off like a lot of people in little leagues, traveling soccer and basketball clubs when I was younger. While I was in high school I did cross country briefly, started to play volleyball quite a bit and helped bring about a men’s after school club with one of the woman’s volleyball coaches. After high school I attended UW Rock County and played on the soccer team and in a men’s club volleyball program. Upon completing my Associates degree I went on to UW Stout and attained my Bachelors Degree. While at Stout, I continued to be active by joining intramural basketball leagues, volleyball leagues, weight lifting as well becoming VP of the martial arts club for a semester.

After college I took up the sport of road cycling and have been doing that in the summers ever since. Before finding Crossfit though I was a member at a health club and while it was nice I couldn’t help but feel I that I was just on auto pilot doing the same routines and going through the motions. That’s when I decided, along with my wife, to get a personal trainer to see what he could do for us. We both loved having a trainer and saw results rather fast. One day he introduced us to a circuit training Crossfit style workout and it was intense. Soon after I was asking to do more of those types of workouts because of the challenge they provided. Eventually our trainer moved to NY  and that’s when we started looking for Crossfit gyms in the area and the rest is history.

I can’t say enough about the people that I get to train with here at Rendered Barbell & Fitness. Their wealth of knowledge and eagerness to help people attain their goals is second to none.
